A sense of community and adventure is near and dear to the inspiration behind La Brea. We’re located right on the border between Santa Monica and Venice, a few blocks from the beach, and are continuously enamored by the way the broader city continues to evolve and develop with culture infusions and a mix of old and new schools.
Nothing makes us happier than seeing our shades join your own travels and journeys, in hopes that in some small way they add even just the slightest contribution to your experiences.
As such, we wanted to provide some of our favorite spots in our home here in LA in case you find yourself stopping by for a visit! Hot spots for food, fashion, and adventure that we hope you’ll enjoy. We aim for our favorites that go beyond tourist spots to try to provide some of our favorite local flavor,
So without further ado, let’s start with some adventure.
If you’re feeling up for some steps and views, some of our favorite activities in LA include:
- Los Liones Trail: a moderate hike in the Pacific Palisades with a stunning view of the water. Like many LA locals, we love Runyon Canyon, but if you’re looking for something with a little less traffic and a little more serenity, there’s no better trail than Los Liones
- Malibu Paragliding: If you’re really up for a thrill, it’s hard to beat a trip paragliding above the beautiful water in Malibu...an experience we’ve done and will never forget. That being said, if your version of adventure includes a little more relaxing, Malibu beach has it all, with some nice shops and markets, beautiful sand, and a calming view of the water that provides the best of both worlds
When it comes to fashion, you can’t go wrong with:
- Taking a trip down Abbot Kinney in Venice, there’s something for everyone on one of the trendiest and fun streets in the U.S. Buck Mason and Stag for the gents, Princepessa and Salt for the ladies. Clothes, cosmetics, delicious food (Blue Start Donuts one of our favorites) and everything in between
- Heading a bit further east be sure to check out The Grove for some of the best shopping and pop-up shops in the city. Not to mention, if you hit the timing right, you may be able to catch a yoga meet-up, an experimental recipe pop-up, or even personalized painting sessions
And if it’s art and culture you seek, look no further than places like The Getty Museum, Griffith Observatory, and of course, the La Brea Tar Pits. A great way to see the rich history and culture of the city while soaking in beautiful views, architecture, artwork, and the like.
We’re just scratching the surface so don’t hesitate to reach out anytime with questions (info@labreala) or recommendations of your own!
